  1. On Wednesday of this week Marshall McLuhan died at 
  2. his home in Toronto. He was 69. Hailed as one of the 
  3. most important thinkers of his time, Marshall McLuhan 
  4. achieved worldwide fame as a communications 
  5. theorist. His ideas on the way culture is shaped by the 
  6. mass media produced devoted followers, passionate 
  7. enemies and enraged critics.
  8.      This is Roger Maurier at the Holy Rosary Church in 
  9. Toronto. Five-hundred people have gathered here on a 
  10. bitterly cold day to pay their last respects to Marshall
